Authentic Supply
Product identity and requested make reviewed against the exact sourcing requirement.
PVDF membrane cartridges use polyvinylidene fluoride membrane rated from 0.1 to 0.65 micrometres, available in hydrophilic and hydrophobic forms. PVDF combines broad chemical resistance with low protein binding, which suits aggressive streams and protein-bearing solutions that would foul or attack other membranes.
ScientificEdge helps laboratories structure product, grade and documentation requirements for instruments, chemicals, filtration systems and consumables before supply is confirmed.

PVDF sits between PES and PTFE. It resists a wider range of chemistry than PES while remaining usable in aqueous duty when supplied in hydrophilic form, and it retains the low protein binding that matters in biological work.
Because both hydrophilic and hydrophobic grades exist under the same material name, the form has to be stated explicitly. A hydrophobic PVDF cartridge fitted where an aqueous stream was expected will not pass water without pre-wetting.
| Parameter | Typical value or range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Membrane | Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) | Hydrophilic or hydrophobic grades |
| Ratings | 0.1, 0.22, 0.45, 0.65 µm | 0.22 µm for sterilising duty |
| Protein binding | Low | Suits protein-bearing streams |
| Chemical compatibility | Broader than PES, narrower than PTFE | Check the stream against the compatibility chart |
| Hydrophilic grade | Wets with water | For aqueous filtration |
| Hydrophobic grade | Requires pre-wetting for aqueous use | For gas and vent duty |
| Integrity testable | Yes | Required for sterilising duty |
| Steam sterilisable | Construction dependent | Confirm cycle limits on the datasheet |
Typical values across the cartridge class. Compatibility and grade follow the datasheet of the cartridge quoted.
PVDF is the one membrane material in common use that is routinely supplied in both wetting forms, and the material name alone does not distinguish them. Ordering PVDF without stating the form is how a hydrophobic cartridge ends up in an aqueous line.
The symptom is unmistakable and easy to misdiagnose: almost no flow at normal pressure, with the filter appearing blocked from new. Before condemning a cartridge in that situation, confirm which grade was supplied.
Intervals are indicative planning figures. The signal in the last column is what should actually trigger the change.
| Duty | Typical interval | Signs it is due |
|---|---|---|
| Validated sterile filtration | Per batch or validated cycle | Failed integrity test, or end of the validated period |
| Process stream filtration | By throughput and differential | Differential pressure rise at constant flow |
| Gas and vent duty | Scheduled | Replace on schedule rather than on failure |
Where the filter sits in a validated process, replacement is governed by your validation rather than by the media's tolerance.
Once a plant has a year of running behind it, consumption for this item is predictable. Sending the plant list and last year's usage gets it scheduled against your maintenance calendar instead of ordered in an emergency at the point the plant is already out of specification.
Water treatment does not have a list price, and any supplier quoting one before seeing a feed analysis is quoting a different plant from the one you need.
On request, and capacity-dependent. Plant pricing moves with capacity, feed water analysis and the recovery target; membranes, cartridges and resins are quoted per element, per lot or per litre of media.
From a single replacement element or a case of cartridges through to full plant scope. Consumable lines are quoted per box or per lot, and the lot size is stated on the quotation.
Confirmed per line item at quotation stage. Stocked consumable lines and made-to-order plant differ substantially, so a single blanket lead time for the category would be misleading — the quotation carries the figure for each line.
GST invoice against company or institutional purchase order. Proforma issued where advance payment or internal approval requires it.
Despatch from Delhi NCR across India, including plant, project and institutional sites. Delivery city and site access are asked for at enquiry because both affect despatch mode.
Technical datasheet for the item quoted, and a test certificate where the principal supplies one with that product. Tender and institutional documentation formats are prepared on request — send the format with the enquiry so the quotation is issued in a form you can submit without rework.
Fields marked with an asterisk are required. The technical fields are what usually decide whether you get a quotation on the first pass or three emails of clarification.
Hydrophilic PVDF wets with water and is used for aqueous filtration. Hydrophobic PVDF repels water and is used for gas, vent and breather duty.
Both are sold as PVDF, so the form must be stated on the order. A hydrophobic cartridge in an aqueous line shows almost no flow and is easily mistaken for a blocked filter.
PES for straightforward aqueous and pharmaceutical duty, where it gives high flow and low protein binding at lower cost.
PVDF where the stream is chemically more aggressive than PES tolerates but does not warrant PTFE, and where low protein binding still matters.
Yes, at 0.22 µm in an integrity-testable construction with supporting bacterial retention data.
As with any sterilising duty, the rating alone is not the claim — ask for the retention data and integrity test limits with the quotation.
