Industrial RO — skid-mounted plants

Industrial RO Systems and Plants in India

Industrial RO systems are skid-mounted reverse osmosis plants that reduce dissolved salts from a pressurised feed to a defined output specification. They are specified from the feed water analysis, the required output quality and the capacity, with recovery set by concentrate saturation rather than by the salinity alone.

Answer first

What Industrial RO Systems Are, and How They Are Specified

Industrial RO systems are skid-mounted reverse osmosis plants that reduce dissolved salts from a pressurised feed to a defined output specification. They are specified from the feed water analysis, the required output quality and the capacity, with recovery set by concentrate saturation rather than by the salinity alone.

A plant quotation depends on five things: feed source, feed TDS, required output quality, capacity and recovery target. Given those, the process train, element class, pump duty and vessel rating all follow. Without them, any number offered is a guess.

The single most common failure in this category is a plant sized from an output figure with no feed analysis behind it. Two plants asked for the same output need entirely different trains if one is on municipal supply at 300 ppm and the other on a borewell at 4,000 ppm with 40 mg/L silica.

Selection guidance

Size the plant on peak draw, and state the duty cycle

Plants sized on daily average run short at shift change and at the start of the working day, which is exactly when the complaint arrives. Size on peak hourly draw, and state whether the plant runs continuously or intermittently — the answer changes pump selection, whether a low-energy element pays back, and how much storage the design needs.

Storage is often the cheapest part of the solution. A smaller plant filling a tank overnight frequently beats a larger plant sized to meet peak instantaneously, both in capital and in running cost.

How This Category Is Quoted

Water treatment does not have a list price, and any supplier quoting one before seeing a feed analysis is quoting a different plant from the one you need.

Pricing basis

On request, and capacity-dependent. Plant pricing moves with capacity, feed water analysis and the recovery target; membranes, cartridges and resins are quoted per element, per lot or per litre of media.

Order quantity

From a single replacement element or a case of cartridges through to full plant scope. Consumable lines are quoted per box or per lot, and the lot size is stated on the quotation.

Lead time

Confirmed per line item at quotation stage. Stocked consumable lines and made-to-order plant differ substantially, so a single blanket lead time for the category would be misleading — the quotation carries the figure for each line.

Invoicing

GST invoice against company or institutional purchase order. Proforma issued where advance payment or internal approval requires it.

Delivery coverage

Despatch from Delhi NCR across India, including plant, project and institutional sites. Delivery city and site access are asked for at enquiry because both affect despatch mode.

Documentation

Technical datasheet for the item quoted, and a test certificate where the principal supplies one with that product. Tender and institutional documentation formats are prepared on request — send the format with the enquiry so the quotation is issued in a form you can submit without rework.

Frequently asked

Industrial RO Systems — Common Questions

What details are needed to quote an industrial RO plant?

Feed water source, feed TDS in ppm or conductivity in µS/cm, required output quality, required capacity in LPH or m³/h, and the duty cycle.

A feed water analysis is worth more than all of those described in prose. If you have a laboratory report, send it — it removes the largest single source of quotation error in this category.

What recovery should an industrial RO plant be designed for?

Typically 55 to 75 percent on brackish feed and 35 to 45 percent on seawater, but the number comes from concentrate saturation at the design recovery rather than from a rule of thumb.

Hardness, silica and sulphate reach saturation before salinity becomes limiting, which is why those parameters are asked for alongside TDS.

Does ScientificEdge manufacture RO plants?

No. ScientificEdge is a B2B supplier, wholesaler, distributor and sourcing partner. We are not a manufacturer, OEM or fabricator of water purification equipment.

We coordinate supply of plants, elements, filters, media and components against your specification, and quote against a named brand where your BOQ specifies one.

Can an RO plant be supplied with installation support?

Installation and commissioning support can be arranged as part of the scope where the project needs it. State the requirement at enquiry, because it affects both the offer and the site readiness we need confirmed before despatch.

For plant and project sites, tell us the delivery city and site access arrangements with the enquiry — both affect despatch mode.
